Helping your student choose the BEST course

Although we are still a little over a month away from the formal registration period, there are some things parents and students can do to get ready for selecting classes for next year.

It is a good idea for parents to communicate with their student’s teacher this time of year. The goal would be to discuss with the teacher the readiness level of the student for next year. The Parent/Teacher conference night on February 8th is an excellent opportunity for this discussion. Some pertinent questions include:

Is my son/daughter ready for the next level?

Would you recommend they take the honors level course?

What areas do you see needing improvement?

Communicating with your guidance counselor about potential college application ramifications is also a good idea.

The registration process begins in earnest in March, with students receiving course books and registration forms. This information is provided to students entering grades 9-12 in a variety of ways (detailed below).

In this edition, you will find some general dates, a brief timeline, frequently used terms/acronyms, and some process information.
